About Dove & Thread

Who is Dove & Thread?

Dove & Thread is a luxury bed and bath linen brand built on over 20 years of manufacturing experience supplying leading hotels worldwide. We brought that hotel-grade quality directly to home customers — the same fabric, the same finishing, the same standards, just with our label instead of a hotel's.

Where are your products made?

Designed in Australia, manufactured at our facility in India (Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh), and shipped via Amazon to the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand. Our manufacturing operation has 20+ years of experience producing luxury bed and bath linens for the global hospitality industry.

What makes Dove & Thread different from other bedding brands?

Three things: hospitality-grade construction (the same specs we supply to luxury hotels), honest thread counts (independently verified by NITRA — see our Certifications page), and direct-to-consumer pricing without middlemen. We also publish all our test reports and certificates publicly, which most bedding brands don't.

Do you only sell to home customers?

No — we serve both home customers (via Amazon) and trade buyers (hotels, resorts, Airbnb hosts, designers, retailers) directly. Trade pricing is available on bulk orders. See our Trade page for details.

Are you a real registered company?

Yes. Dove and Thread Inc is a Profit Corporation registered in the State of Wyoming, USA, in good standing with the Wyoming Secretary of State. We're also a registered exporter under TEXPROCIL (Government of India). Both certificates are downloadable on our Certifications page.

Is the mattress protector breathable and quiet?

Yes - it is designed to be breathable and noiseless.

What pillow types do you offer?

Gel foam, memory foam, ball fiber, and microfiber.

What's the difference between percale and sateen?

Percale is a one-over-one-under weave that feels crisp, cool, and matte — like a freshly laundered dress shirt. Our 300 TC sheets are percale. Sateen is a four-over-one-under weave that feels smooth, silky, and slightly lustrous — softer and warmer to the touch. Our 400, 600, and 800 TC sheets are sateen. For a deeper explanation, see our Percale vs Sateen guide.

Which thread count should I choose?

300 TC is best for hot sleepers and warm climates — crisp, cool, and breathable. 400 TC is the year-round all-rounder, smooth with a soft hand. 600 TC is noticeably softer and more refined. 800 TC is dense, smooth, and substantial — best for cooler months. If you're unsure, 400 TC is the safest starting point. Our Thread Count guide has the full breakdown.

What does "long-staple cotton" mean?

Staple length is the length of individual cotton fibres before they're spun into yarn. Long-staple fibres (over 25mm) make smoother, stronger, longer-lasting fabric than short-staple cotton because there are fewer exposed fibre ends to pill, scratch, or break. We use long-staple cotton across the entire range. Read more in our Long-Staple Cotton guide.

Are your products only available in white?

Yes. All Dove & Thread bed linens and towels are produced in optic white — the global hotel and spa standard. White is practical (it can be bleached for stain removal), it shows dirt honestly so you know it's clean, it matches every interior, and it signals freshness. We may introduce additional colours in future.

Do you sell duvet inserts (the filling itself)?

Not currently. We sell duvet covers (the washable outer envelope) but not duvet inserts. Our duvet covers fit standard Queen and King duvet inserts available from any retailer.

What yarn count and pick construction do you use?

300 TC: 60's × 60's yarn, double pick, 163 EPI × 123 PPI percale weave. 400 TC: 60's × 80's compact combed, double pick, 199 EPI × 183 PPI sateen weave. 600 TC: 80's × 100's compact combed, triple pick, 378 EPI × 206 PPI sateen weave. 800 TC: 120's × 140's combed compact, six pick, 570 EPI × 235 PPI sateen weave. EPI/PPI numbers for 300, 400, 600, and 800 TC are all independently verified by NITRA.

Quality & Certifications

Is your fabric independently tested?

Yes. Each thread count tier is independently tested by NITRA (Northern India Textile Research Association), a laboratory linked to the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. Reports are published on our Certifications & Quality page with full EPI × PPI and blend composition for the 300, 400, 600, and 800 TC fabrics.

Is your fabric OEKO-TEX® certified?

Yes. Our bed linens are made with OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified fabric (certificate number 25.HIN.12120, valid until 31.10.2026). The certificate confirms the fabric has been independently tested for harmful substances and is safe for direct skin contact. You can download the certificate on our Certifications & Quality page or verify it directly at oeko-tex.com.

Are you a registered exporter?

Yes. Dove & Thread is a registered member of TEXPROCIL — The Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council, sponsored by the Government of India. Our RCMC registration (XM/35707(2026)-D) is valid until 31-03-2031 and authorises us to export cotton madeups internationally.

Where is Dove and Thread Inc registered?

Dove and Thread Inc is a Profit Corporation registered in the State of Wyoming, USA, in good standing with the Wyoming Secretary of State.

Where can I see all your certificates and lab reports?

All our independent lab test reports, the OEKO-TEX® fabric certificate, the TEXPROCIL RCMC, and the Wyoming Certificate of Good Standing are available on our Certifications & Quality page as downloadable PDFs.

What is NITRA?

NITRA is the Northern India Textile Research Association — an independent textile testing laboratory linked to the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. It's accredited under ISO 9001 and IS/ISO/IEC 17025. We submit fabric samples for each thread count tier, and NITRA verifies the actual ends per inch, picks per inch, and blend composition. The reports are published on our Certifications page.

What does the OEKO-TEX® certificate cover?

Certificate 25.HIN.12120 covers the woven cotton fabric used in our bed linens — confirming it has been tested against 100+ harmful substance parameters (formaldehyde, heavy metals, allergenic dyes, pesticide residues, and more) and meets OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 Product Class II limits for textiles in direct skin contact. Valid until 31.10.2026.

Are your thread counts honest?

Yes. Many bedding brands inflate thread counts by twisting multiple thinner yarns together and counting each strand separately. We don't. The 300, 400, and 800 TC numbers correspond to independently lab-verified ends and picks per inch (e.g. 300 TC = 163 EPI × 123 PPI = 286, rounded conservatively to 300). You can read the actual NITRA reports yourself.

Is the 600 TC fabric independently tested?

It is now published. The 600 TC fabric was independently tested by NITRA (report N2600661) and verified at 378 EPI × 206 PPI, 100% cotton. You can view the full report on our Certifications page alongside the 300, 400, and 800 TC reports.

Is the OEKO-TEX® certificate in Dove & Thread's name?

The current OEKO-TEX® certificate (25.HIN.12120) is held by our fabric supplier, which is why our website says "Made with OEKO-TEX® certified fabric" rather than claiming Dove & Thread itself is the certificate holder. We're in the process of obtaining OEKO-TEX® certification in Dove & Thread's own name and will update this page when it's issued.

Sizing & What's Included

What sizes are available right now?

Queen and King (more sizes will be introduced in the future).

What is included in the sheet set?

A 4-piece set: 1 fitted sheet, 1 flat sheet, and 2 pillow covers. The fitted sheet can also be purchased separately.

What mattress depth will the fitted sheet fit?

Up to 16 inches.

What duvet cover sizes do you offer?

Queen: 90x96 inches. King: 108x96 inches.

How does the duvet cover close?

Snap buttons made from high-quality stainless steel.

What pillowcase sizes do you offer?

Queen: 21×32 inches. King: 21×40 inches. Oxford borders will be launching soon.

Will the fitted sheet fit my deep mattress?

Yes — our fitted sheets are designed with deep pockets and fit mattresses up to 16 inches (40 cm) deep, including most pillow-top and hybrid mattresses.

Are your sizes in US dimensions or international?

We use US Queen and King dimensions as the standard. These are also compatible with Australian Queen and King mattresses, which match the US sizing closely. UK and European bedding sizes differ slightly — if you're shopping from those regions, please measure your mattress before ordering. See our Size GuideFind Your Pillow for full dimensions in inches and centimeters.

Can I buy a fitted sheet on its own?

Yes — fitted sheets are available as a standalone product as well as part of the 4-piece sheet set.

Care Instructions

Should I wash before first use?

Yes, we recommend washing before first use. However, if you do not, it is totally fine.

How should I wash and care for my products?

Please refer to our Care Instructions page for full, product-specific guidance (washing, drying, and longevity tips).

Can I tumble dry my sheets?

Yes — tumble dry on LOW and remove promptly. Avoid high heat and over-drying, especially for higher thread counts where the denser weave is more sensitive to heat damage. Line drying is also excellent and naturally brightens whites.

Why shouldn't I use fabric softener on my towels?

Fabric softener coats cotton loops in a waxy film that destroys absorbency — a softener-treated towel feels soft in the store but won't actually dry your skin. If your towels feel stiff, add half a cup of white vinegar to the rinse cycle instead. It softens naturally without coating the fibres.

How long should my sheets last?

With proper care and 2–3 sets in rotation, our long-staple cotton sheets typically last 4–5 years of comfortable use. Factors that shorten life: hot water washing, high-heat drying, bleach, and overloading the machine. Read more in our How Often Should You Replace Your Sheets guide.

Can I bleach my white sheets?

We recommend avoiding chlorine bleach and optical brighteners — over time they weaken cotton fibres and can cause yellowing. For stubborn stains, soak in a mild oxygen-based whitener and wash on a normal cycle. Line-drying in sunlight is the gentlest natural brightener.

How should I wash my mattress protector?

Cold gentle cycle with mild detergent — never hot wash. Tumble dry LOW only or line dry. The TPU waterproof membrane is heat-sensitive and can delaminate above ~55°C/130°F. Never iron, bleach, or dry-clean a waterproof protector.
